The League of Innovative Schools is a national network of school leaders in 150 districts in 38 states that aim to enhance and scale digital learning opportunities for students across the nation.

Digital Learning Resources:

  • Nebraska supports their educators in becoming skilled and qualified to use educational technology in their instruction. Nebraska's Digital Learning Center is a robust repository of courses that teachers can take online for professional development. Additionally, the Nebraska Digital Learning Association is a professional development network for educators in K-12, higher education, and state and local governments to collaborate on the use of emerging technology and innovations.

  • Curious about your district’s internet access? ConnectK-12 provides state- and district-specific information on access to the recommended bandwidth speeds and monthly internet costs.

Career & Technical and/or Work-based Education:

  • Nebraska Career Pathways Framework outlines 16 career clusters, guiding students towards specific career paths. Nebraska encourages internships, apprenticeships, and job shadowing to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences. Nebraska allocates additional funding to school districts based on CTE enrollment.

  • Students can earn industry-recognized certifications in Nebraska, enhancing their employability upon graduation.

Personalized, Competency- and/or Mastery-based Learning:

  • Nebraska’s Department of Education provides support and encouragement to districts to institute personal learning plans and portfolios.

  • The state established a competitive innovative grant program called the Innovation Grant Fund. The funds give money to school districts to help foster personalized learning through digital ecosystem development, career academies, after-school innovative programs, and more

Innovation Schools, Zones, and/or Districts:

  • Innovation schools and zones are allowable by law.

  • The Innovation Network Funds, established in 2015, support the creation and expansion of innovative best practices in education through competitive grant programs, facilitating projects such as personalized learning and career academies, with a focus on ensuring equity of access to quality instructional materials.
